The Lusitanian Army keep besieging the Royal Capital, however, Pars's enemy are not all outside the City.
The Lusitanian Army launches many assaults to take the Ecbatana. Gieve is reward by the Queen, but his reward is diminish after it is discovered that he lied to a Queen's servant in order to sleep with her.
Ten days after the beginning of the siege, the Lusitanian army puts the heads of Vahriz, Manuchurch, Hayir and others on display. After informing the Queen that they have not seen the King's head, Sam and Garshasph argue about the Capital's defense. However, they are interrupted by Lusitanian's soldiers screaming about the Gholam's freedom if they rise up against their Master. Not so long after that, they are informed that Gholam have start a bloody riot Garshaph puts down the riot but Sam tells him that more will come.
Eleven days after the beginning of the siege, slaves start many upsrings and killing of Pars's citizens. Gieve meets with Prime Minister Husrab who tells him that he must lead the Queen outside the City by the way of a secret passage.
As he take the queen to the underground, Lusitanian soldiers accompanied by Kharlan and Hilmes arrive.
